Looking Out For Culture

Looking Out For Culture is a one-day workshop that provides an introduction to Indigenous arts and copyright, trade marks and protocols.

You will learn about:

In this workshop, you’ll gain an understanding of Indigenous arts and culture,

and how cultural knowledge and creative works are protected. You’ll learn the

basics of copyright and how it applies to Indigenous artworks, stories, and

designs. We’ll cover how to manage rights using agreements, ensuring that

cultural and intellectual property is respected and appropriately used. The

workshop will also guide you through the process of developing cultural

protocols to support ethical collaborations with Indigenous artists and

communities. Finally, you’ll learn about trade marks, and how they can be

used to protect Indigenous brands and creative works.

  • Indigenous people working in the arts, cultural and business

  • People working in the arts industry, government, or private business

  • Artists, writers, and curators

  • Arts administrators

  • Anyone interested in Indigenous arts and culture, Indigenous business, or working with Indigenous people and communities
